The Australian Livestock community is anchored in the work of Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA), which serves Australian red meat and livestock producers through research, development, marketing, integrity systems, tools, and producer services.
MLA works with the red meat industry to support beef cattle, sheep, lamb, and goat supply chains. Its integrity and compliance work is delivered with Integrity Systems Company and includes the Livestock Production Assurance program, National Vendor Declarations and electronic National Vendor Declarations, and the National Livestock Identification System.
Australian red meat traceability is closely tied to market access, food safety, product integrity, and export confidence. MLA describes traceability and product integrity as underpinning Australia’s red meat reputation, supporting domestic and international market access, and helping brand owners and exporters address food fraud and communicate with high-value markets.
Within a UNTP implementation context, this community can help livestock stakeholders map animal identification, property records, movement events, vendor declarations, assurance status, processing data, market-access requirements, and environmental credentials into interoperable digital credentials. This supports stronger paddock-to-plate traceability, more efficient compliance checks, and better data reuse across producers, processors, exporters, retailers, and regulators.
Pilot Implementations
-
Paddock-to-Processor Traceability Pilot (2026):
Exchange livestock identification, property, movement, and processing events as UNTP-compatible records, validating continuity from producer declarations through processor intake.
-
Electronic Vendor Declaration Data Pack Pilot (2026):
Test reusable digital credentials for eNVD data, LPA assurance references, transport handover, and consignment-level declarations across producer, transporter, saleyard, and processor workflows.
-
Environmental Credentials for Red Meat Pilot (2027):
Trial the exchange of on-farm environmental credentials, carbon calculator outputs, remote sensing references, and sustainability self-assessment evidence with downstream buyers and finance partners.
